EP《不稳定的平庸》是电子音乐人ayrtbh的一次新的音乐实验。EP由5首曲子组成，它们都使用同一套max for live（后简称m4l）系统演奏录制而成，这套由ayrtbh开发的m4l系统与通常基于时间线编辑的音乐制作方式不同，所有旋律和节奏都是由演奏者通过自创的交互界面控制电脑实时生成。m4l系统的旋律与和声组件在 EP 的同名曲目「不稳定的平庸」中得到了充分发挥。EP《不稳定的平庸》延续了ayrtbh多年来将电脑软件作为乐器演奏的尝试。

The EP "Unstable Mediocrity" is a new experiment by computer musician ayrtbh. The EP consists of five tracks, all of which were recorded when operating the same max for live (m4l) system. The m4l system, developed by ayrtbh, is a departure from the usual timeline-based approach to music production, in that all melodies and rhythms are generated in real-time by a computer controlled by the performer through a self-invented interactive interface. The m4l system's melodic and harmonic components are fully utilized in the EP's eponymous track "Unstable Mediocrity". This EP continues ayrtbh's years of experimentation by using computer software as an instrument to play.
